How to reach Araku
There are three ways into the valley, and your itinerary should be built around whichever you pick — the train and a cab give very different days.
By train
The morning Vistadome / passenger train from Visakhapatnam is one of India’s most scenic rail journeys, winding through 58 tunnels and over 84 bridges past the Borra Caves region. By road
A private cab from Vizag takes around 3 to 3.5 hours up a gorgeous ghat road, stopping at viewpoints and the caves on the way. Araku train itinerary
The Visakhapatnam–Araku rail line is a bucket-list journey in itself — a slow, scenic climb through 58 tunnels and dozens of bridges, with the Vistadome coach’s glass roof and rotating seats making the most of it. Plan the train as a one-way leg and pair it with a cab for the return.
